When we founded Viking Cricket, one thing was obvious: female cricketers were being underserved. Too often, women and girls were expected to use hand-me-downs equipment — bats too heavy, gloves too loose, pads that simply didn’t fit properly. As coaches, we heard it constantly from players and parents. So we made a decision early on: we wouldn’t just include female equipment in our range — we would build a specialist range from the ground up. That decision led to the creation of Valkyrie. Working alongside triple World Cup winner Jenny Gunn, we combined elite playing insight with our bat-making expertise to design equipment tailored specifically to female biomechanics, strength profiles, and comfort requirements. Because performance starts with equipment that truly fits.

Grip sizes suited to smaller hands

We use premium Pittards Cougar leather across our protection range — the same world-class materials trusted at the highest level of the game. Whether you’re playing in a World Cup final or a Sunday league match, your protection should be identical.

We’re proud to work with an incredible group of players across the game during those 8 years, including internationals and professionals such as Emma Lamb, Mady Villiers, Hollie Armitage, Hannah Baker, and Jenny Gunn MBE.

We’ve also been delighted to support emerging talent in the past including Alex MacDonald, Leah Dobson, and Bess Heath, many of whom have competed together for the Northern Diamonds.

Seeing players progress through pathways using Valkyrie equipment is exactly why we created the range and we are proud to have worked with players at Lancashire and Yorkshire’s academy’s.

We’ve been privileged to collaborate with leaders in female cricket development, including Lydia Greenway and The Female Cricket Store, helping make specialist equipment more accessible to girls entering the sport.

We’re also proud to have partnered with the Yorkshire Cricket Board to support women and girls’ cricket programmes — particularly during challenging seasons where access to resources mattered more than ever.
