When we started Viking Cricket we knew that bats and equipment for women and girls were extremely scarce. Being coaches ourselves we had been asked questions by parents about the correct bat weights and the fact equipment was too big and generally didn’t fit properly, so it was always something we planned to have in our range of bats and equipment. We were lucky enough to have Jenny Gunn, triple world cup winner, come meet with us and we started to develop our Valkyrie range with her expertise and knowledge.
Some of the things we worked on were making sure that labels in our equipment were labelled correctly – why shouldn’t they say ‘Women’ or ‘Girls’? We worked on getting average sizes done so the wristbands on our gloves would be better fitting and the leg pad straps fit nicely, not hanging loose. We only use the very best Pittards cougar world class leather for our products and the protection is the same high quality whether playing in a world cup or at your local cricket club.
We have enjoyed working with some fantastic players from club to county to Internationals like Emma Lamb, Mady Villiers, Hollie Armitage, Hannah Baker and triple world cup winner Jenny Gunn MBE. We are delighted to have Alex MacDonald, Leah Dobson and Bess Heath join us for the end of 2020 and for the 2021 season, Alex, Leah and Bess will be playing with Hollie and Jenny for the Northern Diamonds. Excitingly as we look ahead to 2021 we will see new additions added to the range with more choice than ever, covering more age ranges than before.

Added 14th September we are proud to announce an agreement between ourselves and The Yorkshire Cricket Board women and girls until at least the end of the 2021 season.
